There's lots of talk about security and commission theft going around.
Personally, I think a lot of it is exaggerated. And what little there is happens primarily in the "internet marketing" niche where people have heard more about it.
Nevertheless, CBmall takes your security seriously. Here's how:
CBmall now immediately hides your affiliate link for increased security. When you type in
http://www.CBmall.com?storefront=YourID and you arrive at the mall it looks like:
http://www.cbmall.com/default.asp and as you can see your ID disappears. The system tracks it and hides it.
There are two easy ways to test the system.
1. Use your standard link: http://www.CBmall.com?storefront=YourID. Your ID will immediately disappear. To check if it is actually in the system, view the html source code (Choose View then Source from Explorer) and you will see your ClickBank ID at the very bottom of the source code.
You can also navigate to the join.asp page or the search.asp and do the same thing.
2. You can always test the system by simply going through the purchase process with any ClickBank link. Go to a ClickBank product and click order on that merchant's page.
At the ClickBank screen where you enter your credit card, look at the very bottom of the screen and you will see something that looks like this: [affiliate = YourID]. If you see your ClickBank ID there, the system is working. That's all you need to do.
But - remember that if you test this on a merchant page you have previously visited, you may still have a ClickBank cookie on your system,. Try another product you would have never otherwise visited, or delete your cookies and test it again.
Because of the powerful new database CBmall uses, affiliate links are completely invisible. They don’t even exist on the web page, so nobody can see and steal your commissions by such tricks as reading the properties of a link or even looking at the source code.
You can check this out yourself. View the source on any of the pages within the mall, and you won’t find any hoplinks. This is also true of the other affiliate programs. The links are so weird looking, no one would have any idea where to begin if they wanted to steal commissions. Here’s what a link looks like for a ClickBank product now:
href="/exit.php?url=aG9wLmNsaWNrYmFuay5XQvP2NibWFsbC9iYmJveQ==">
Try to steal a commission from that. :)
I'm not saying theft is impossible - no security is impenetrable. But this is probably the best you can get.
